Welcome to Circle of Life Ignite (COLI), where people who have experienced the loss of a child come together to support each other and create positive change in communities affected by trauma.
About us
Circle of Life Ignite, previously known as Sound Waves, is led by a group of mothers and friends who have experienced the trauma of losing a child to youth violence.
We recognise the profound impact this loss has on families, friends, and the wider community. The organisation was established in 2018 following the tragic killing of a young person at a community centre in the presence of parents and children under 12 years old.
Our members and supporters know how hard it is to cope with such a loss and how it can cause physical problems. We give strong support to mothers who have recently gone through similar tragedies, listening to them with care and guiding them as they heal and find hope.
Mission
Our mission is to authentically and courageously bring to the forefront the continuing grievous consequences of violence among young people and to collaboratively change systemic drivers and causes of violence to save lives.
We are dedicated to shedding light on the ongoing impact of violence among youth and are committed to working together to address the root causes and systemic factors that contribute to these issues, ultimately striving to make a difference in saving lives.
